Free to Breathe Nails!

So tomorrow I am walking in a 5K to benefit Lung Cancer called Free to Breathe that my very best friend organized virtually by herself! Her family has lived across the street from me my entire life, so needless to say, we are family.
She got involved with Free to Breathe last year when her mom was diagnosed with Lung Cancer. Lung cancer claims more lives than breast, prostate, colon, liver, kidney and melanoma cancers COMBINED, making it the clear leader among cancer deaths in America. Over 440 lives are lost to this unpredictable disease EACH DAY. Anyone with lungs can get lung cancer! It is not just a smokers disease!
This is the 3rd annual walk in Massachusetts and this year we are walking in memory of her mom. I'm so excited and proud of her so of course I bought new colors to match their logo and did a few Free to Breathe manis!

Black & White Nails!

31 Day Challenge: Black & White Nails!

These nails I was hoping would turn out better, but whatever...I originally thought that I owned black striping tape, but apparently I don't. I used painters tape to paint one half black but the line was not perfect and you can see some of the wobbly black under the white. I also don't like how the white tape looks at my cuticles, but from far away this mani really pops, which I do like. Also I made a light box, but bought the wrong bulbs so the flashless photos look yellow still...

I used:
  • OPI: Black Onyx
  • OPI: My Boyfriend Scales Walls
  • OPI: Matte Topcoat
  • White Striping Tape

Violet Nails!

31 Day Challenge: Violet Nails!

Yay purple! I've been wanting to try a cloud mani for a while now, which apparently I forgot when I did blue, so I did it with purple. Not too bad for my first try, though my right hand somehow managed to come out a little better...weird. Anyways, here it is!

I Used:

  • OPI: Dutch 'Ya Just Love OPI? (base)
  • OPI: Do You Lilac It? (2nd layer)
  • OPI: Purple With A Purpose (3rd layer)

Blue Nails!

31 Day Challenge: Blue Nails

Ugh, this post is so late because I had such a hard time with blue for some reason. I did them Thursday night and was trying to get them done before Glee started. I thought I had a great idea which was this...

I still think it was a good idea, I just did it terribly. The colors just didn't work out, you could hardly see the peace sign and the micro beads ended up being harder than I thought to apply in a specific shape. It just came out messy and decided I couldn't post this for blue. So after Glee I took them off and re-started.

Then I decided to just use some stamping plates figuring it would be faster since I did have to work the next morning...I ended up with this:

Still don't love it, but I kept it anyways because I was exhausted and didn't post it because well, I was exhausted and then was in Boston all weekend. I would have liked it much better if it covered my whole nail...plus my pinky is bumped. Plus I always thought of Turquoise & Caicos as a blue until I put it next to a darker blue, on this mani it looked more green. Oh well, blue fail. I think purple will be better...I can feel it!

For the first mani I used:

  • Essie: Borrowed & Blue
  • Essie: Lapis of Luxury
  • OPI: Fly (For the base of the peace sign)
  • Recollections Micro Bead: Capri
Second Mani:
  • Essie: Lapis of Luxury (Base)
  • Essie: Borrowed & Blue (Stamp)
  • Essie: Turquoise & Caicos (Base)
  • Essie: Mint Candy Apple (Stamp)
  • Stamp Plate: BM-201
Also, I made a lightbox but I think I need different light bulb/a third light because they're still coming out kind of yellow. Here's a photo of the new Essie's I bought in my lightbox. (Lapis of Luxury, Borrowed & Blue, Mint Candy Apple)

Green Nails

31 Day Challenge: Green Nails!

I thought snakeskin would be fun for green nails, since I'm not a huge fan of the color green, but I love snakeskin. It came out a little more gold than green, but it definitely looks greener in person. I think they're subtle but fierce. Hope you like them!

The colors I used were:
  • OPI: Just Spotted The Lizard (base)
  • Essie: Good As Gold
  • OPI: Green-wich Village
  • Bundle Monster: Plate BM-215
  • OPI: Matte Top Coat

I used:
  • Tape!
  • Illamasqua: Rare
  • Essie: Sand Tropez

Orange Nails

31 Day Challenge: Orange Nails!

Just tried to quickly do my orange nails because I didn't want to go nakie tomorrow at MixFest/I'm tired. I think I like them, not so much super close up, but from afar they look cool.

Red Nails

31 Day Challenge: Red Nails complete!

I had a super frustrating time with these! Mostly because as I was starting to use the red tape on my second nail, I somehow flung the tape and couldn't find it! I was on my hands and knees looking everywhere for it feeling like a moron. I even looked in my shirt and was touching my hair in case it somehow ended up somewhere awkward. Then I got a response text from my cousin about going to Panera, so I went hoping it would be somewhere obvious when I got back, and was maybe feeling a little more observant after eating dinner. Yea, I went to Panera with only 1 1/2 completed nails...classy.
Got back and still didn't see it anywhere and I was late for the VMAs! Finally found it after 5 more minutes behind my trash can just leaning up against it. Sneaky sneaky. Anyways, grabbed it, and ran down the street to my sister's house to catch the VMAs.

Anyways, I liked the idea of these, but the tape was a pain, especially on my right hand. I'm not really a huge fan of red either, so they're def not my favorite. I don't think they came out too bad though.

I used
  • Essie: Good As Gold for the base (Not normally a gold fan either, but I'm kind of obsessed with this color!)
  • OPI: Vodka & Caviar
  • OPI: Matte Top Coat
