Harry Potter Nails!

31 Day Challenge: Inspired By A Movie

Harry Potter Nailsssss! I love love love Harry Potter, but probably not quite as much as other people because I haven't read all the books....yeaaaaah, I just admitted that. That's why I chose to do this mani for inspired by a movie, not a book. Don't judge me, I read the first two and love all the movies but was never a big reader as a kid. Who wants to read after doing forced reading assignments for school? I sure didn't. I plan to read them all some day, now that I'm a big girl and no longer in school, I just have to finish a few other books first.

So anyways, I did all the Hogwarts houses on my nails like many others have done before. Slytherin is my pinky, Hufflepuff is my ring finger, Ravenclaw is my middle finger, Gryffindor my index finger and of course a lightning bolt on my thumb. I used this tutorial for the lightning bolt by Nailside and I'm obsessed with it and love the way it came out. The only issue I had was with my Ravenclaw nail. SO simple, it was the first nail I did! Then I bumped it. Then I fixed it. Then I got glitter in the top coat and it got all wrinkly and weird, so I did it AGAIN. I messed it up a little the last time and decided IT'S FINE!  I also bumped Hufflepuff twice! That's why the line isn't centered...it was. Ugh, I'm just glad I only screwed up the easy ones. If I bumped the lightning bolt I might have cried. Man, these look so good until you take close up pictures of them, hahaha.

Oh also, my wands are Ron's, Hermione's and I bought the Deathly Hallows necklace and the Golden Snitch necklace on Etsy!

Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds Nails

31 Day Challenge: Inspired By A Song

I'm seriously regretting the fact that I didn't put lotion on my hands before taking these photos, my hands look so dry! Sooorrryyyy! I didn't have much time and needed to get ready to go out...

Anyways for inspired by a song I did "Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds" by The Beatles. One of my favorite songs by my all time favorite band. I was kind of going for a look like the "Yellow Submarine" movie.

Still from the movie "Yellow Submarine."

On my pinky I did a water marble with some added dots for a psychedelic kind of look. My ring finger is obviously the diamonds...middle finger is a "Marmalade sky" and "cellophane flowers of yellow and green." Index finger is "Kaleidoscope eyes," and my thumb is a green apple for "Apple Records."

My John Lennon figurine.

Inspired By A Color

31 Day Challenge: Inspired By A Color

Ok ok ok, I know, this has been done a million times, not clever, but it's the reason I bought this color. Oh yea and WHO DOESN'T LOVE A TIFFANY'S BOX?!?

So yea, the color is China Glaze: For Audrey. I've seen the Tiffany's manicure plenty of times, but it's just oh so cute, and I figured this was the perfect time to try it! I just did a tape mani for the white stripes, free handed the bow, which, I wish came out a tad better and added a little rhinestone. Simple and cute!

  • China Glaze: For Audrey
  • OPI: My Boyfriend Scales Walls

Water Marble Nails!

31 Day Challenge: Water Marble Nails

Water Marble time! Such a pain in the butt but oh so worth it! I definitely need some more practice though, this is only my second attempt and for some reason I suck at swirling the colors together! I started with a white base so the colors would pop more. Not much more to say though, I taped my fingers off but there is always way more clean up, so sorry about the slightly messy cuticles...

Galaxy Nails!

31 Day Challenge: Galaxy Nails

This challenge was fun! Honestly, outer space freaks me out! But it's beautiful obviously...and this wasn't too hard. Not much to say about it, for the base I used "On Her Majesty's Secret Service" because I loved it so much from my half-moons. Then I just kept sponging on different colors and glittters. I've seen some really cool galaxy nails that I like better, but I think these came out pretty decent for my first try!

Half Moon Nails!

31 Day Challenge: Half Moon Nails

Ugh, these were rough! I will say they look pretty decent in the photos, but they were not as easy as I feel like they're made out to be! Not to mention it's a look that is just odd to me for some reason...

So I started with a base of "Moonraker", then added a coat of Seche Vite, then took a shower...hahaha. I only mention this because part of the problem might have been the fact that I had some lotion still on my nails. But the first time I tried to use hole reinforcements it all stuck to my bare nail!So I thought it might help...I stuck the reinforcements on the back of my hand first and then stuck them to my nail, painted the next color and when I took them off they were all slippery and slid around and ruined all my clean edges. I had to go back in with a brush and fix all the moons and it was terrible. I added little blue glitter specs from "The Living Daylight," to make it more interesting. My left hand in the end looked pretty ok minus my thumb. My right hand was a different story.

Anyways on to the photos!

I Used:
  • OPI: Moonraker
  • OPI: On Her Majesty's Secret Service
  • OPI: The Living Daylights
