Bright Chevrons!

So I've decided to enter my first nail art contest! Kelsie's Nail Files is having a contest for her 1 year Blogiversary! The rules are to paint a design inspired by something on this Pinterest board she made. You can't use anything 3D, like rhinestones etc.
I decided to base my design on this chevron cell phone case on the right...so cute!
I love the way my mani came out! Though I'm not sure it's winning material since you can see all the other entries on the page, hahaha. Well wish me luck anyways!

  • OPI: Green-Wich Village

Glitter & Pink Half Moons

Yea, no exclamation point. I hate them. I don't really like half moons to begin with, I think they look weird on me, but I saw this combo on Pinterest and I really liked it. So I thought I'd try it out, but I still hated them on me. Ugh. They came out a little too "Barbie," and I don't even have a problem with Barbie. My pink was definitely darker than in the original, and for some dumb reason I didn't cut my ring finger or pinky to match the length of the other two...um, hello, what? Why? Who knows. It was just a bad nail night. I actually started with the intention to do a winter snowflake mani, but it just wasn't working out. My blues were acting weird and I was rushed thinking "Revenge" was on. It wasn't, so I went back to start a new mani, which ended up being this one. It was just getting thick and you can see the middle finger has a wrinkle in it. Oh well, I think I'm officially done with half moon manis.

On the bright side, I love the mani I just did for my next post AND my three Zoyas came in the mail today!!! I got "London," "Daul," & "Purity." Photos at the end of the post!

Maroon & Gold Studded Nails!

After using small amounts of OPI "Casino Royale"  in a few recent manis, I decided I needed a full mani with it because it's gorgeous! I do wish it was a little more purple like it looks in the bottle, but I still love it. I added Essie "As Gold As It Gets" and added some Born Pretty gold studs that I have and hadn't had the chance to use yet. Simple & A little badass with the studs :)

I used:
  • OPI: Casino Royale

Dip-Dyed Nails!

31 Day Challenge: Inspired By A Tutorial

I. Love. These.
And it is so easy! I've been wanting to try this mani since I saw it on Nailed It. She did just blue and since the challenge is "Inspired By" I decided to make it rainbow, minus yellow. I don't have a pastel yellow......yet. I think they look Dip Dyed, so that's what I called mine.
Don't really have much else to say about this one, check out the tutorial and try it out!

Explosion Nails!

31 Day Challenge: Inspired By The Supernatural

Heyyy everyone! I can't believe I'm already on the 29th challenge! It's almost over! Anyways, this challenge is Supernatural themed, and I had no clue what to do. I'm not a fan of spooky things, plus that just seemed too Halloween for January. Loooove me some superheros but I'm 98% sure I would have failed and I didn't have time for that last night. I already did Harry Potter, unicorns were a thought but I'm not sure how good of a unicorn I could do. Plus I seriously need some new brushes before I attempt anything too crazy. So I decided to try and do an explosion mani like Nailside and call it a "Supernatural Explosion..." Yea, that's what I'm sticking to...hahaha.
So I kind of just tried to remember her tutorial instead of looking it up, and totally failed. My ring finger came out the best, and it doesn't look nearly as good as hers. Whateverrrrr. My thumb was a total joke, I only posted one photo including my thumb. Don't laugh. Also my pinky is "Casino Royale" because at first I was only going to use that with "Did It On 'Em," but I decided it was too dark for that green and threw "Dim Sum Plum" in there, WHICH I LOVE. I'm amazed at how similar "Casino Royale" and "Dim Sum Plum" look in the bottles, but when they're dry they're totally different. Ok ok ok, on to the manicure!

Thumb: Like what?!? How did that come out so bad?!?

  • OPI: Casino Royale

Union Jack Nails!

31 Day Challenge: Inspired By A Flag

FLAG DAYYYYY! I love these, though I wish I spent a little more time on them, they're definitely not entirely up to my standards. I also feel weird when people compliment me on them because they're probably thinking, "You're definitely American..." Whatever, a girl can dream. Sometimes I pretend I have a British accent...
I was planning on doing the British Flag since the start. Why wouldn't I? The Beatles are my absolute favorite! The Who! The Stones! THE SPICE GIRLS! BRITISH ACCENTS! HARRY POTTER! KATE MIDDLETON! PHONE BOOTHS! MUMFORD & SONS! ALEXANDER MCQUEEN (RIP)...you get my point. What's not to love?
Anyhoo, I just wish I did like one more coat on the white (though I realized you can't tell in the photos that it needs another coat!) , and I really really suck at striping tape! I find it really difficult to work with and it always peels up and I want to pull them off SO BADLY. (I'm drinking coffee right now, sorry for the caps.) Not to mention when you lose the end on the roll, so hard to find it again! Also, the red tape looks really bright in the photos, but now for some reason they're terribly faded, so strange, I don't think I've had that happen before.
Do you guys have any tips for striping tape?? What do you use to cut it? I just can't get scissors that close, especially when the tape is horizontal. Bahh, it's such a love/hate relationship.

See, you can see the tape hanging off...

Hahaha, my Beatles mug that my college roommate bought for me!
