Water Bottle Inspired Chevrons!

Um, so, I love this. So much. Since I've had my SV Dry Fast Top coat I love doing tape manis. Before I was way too impatient to do them correctly and they would be all bumpy and dumb.

Anyways, my mom decided she was going to clean out our water bottle cabinet, so almost every water bottle was in a box on the kitchen floor ready to probably go out in the garage and never be seen again. So I grabbed all of mine and brought them to my room. I was holding my purple zig-zagged Old Navy water bottle and thought "THIS WOULD BE AN AWESOME MANI!" And I must say...it is! Hahaha.

So basically I painted my nails alternating blue & pink, and then painted the top halves of all of them with green. Did a coat of SV, and then cut some small zig zagged strips of tape with my pinking sheers and stuck em on there. Then filled in all the gaps with varying colors on the water bottle and pulled off the tape! Then topped it off with some matte top coat because I haven't used my matte in a while and told myself I'd use it on my next mani...Done! This would be much more appropriate for summer, but I hate winter anyways so I like to always pretend it's summer. I don't even have functioning snow boots right now...

Double Ombre Mani!

Heyyy there! I have some ombre nails with a twist today.
I've always loved ombre nails, but for some reason I've never done them! I think about it and then think "well, these aren't all that impressive..." But I really do love the look of them. So to make it a little less plain, I decided to do two different color ombres that meet in the middle. Then I separated it with some small silver square studs. I really like it, but I think I put too much clear polish under the studs because there is some weird stuff going on around there and that is the only reasoning I can think of. It looks awesome from afar, but in the pictures that middle nail looks a little funky. O well! It was simple, not too upset about it. And doing these gave me another good idea for a funky ombre mani!

Valentine's Day Nails!

Quick Mani I did tonight for Valentine's Day! Two colors, two hearts. I used my new Zoya Pixe Dust color though which I love. I used top coat on all my fingers except for my index finger so you could see the texture of it. I was too nervous to leave my hearts with no top coat so those don't have the texture to them.

Grace Potter & The Nocturnals Nails!

Yayyy! I love this mani! Tonight I'm going to Rhode Island to see Grace Potter & The Nocturnals! I saw them in November in Boston and couldn't not buy tickets to their RI show! So I wanted to try and do some nail art inspired by their latest album "The Lion, The Beast, The Beat." It looks like this:

I was super nervous doing them, I thought for sure the lion would come out terrible, but I don't think it's half bad! The one thing that kind of stinks though is I coped the lion from this photo. Then when I went to photograph my nails holding the album, my cover is different! So it looks like I didn't even reference it, but o well. The yellow stripes are red/orange on my copy and the colors behind the lion are in a different order. But other than that. Oh and for my pinky I used black "Glequin" type things.

See, my copy looks different than the photo I referenced...oops.

Feather Mani!

Tonight I decided to try out one of my new Zoyas! It's blizzarding here so why not do my nails? I wanted to do something quick and simple so I wouldn't be upset taking it off on Sunday, because I'm planning on trying something exciting! So I went for a feather mani because I've been wanting to try it and I bought a whole bag of funky feathers for like a buck! I just did two coats of my new Zoya, "Daul" and added a purple feather while it was still wet. Cut and trimmed it the best I could and added two coats of top coat. DONE. EASY. AWESOME.
I love the Zoya color, but I wish I used a lighter purple under the feather because there is not enough contrast for me. It was also really tough to photograph. Oh well, good news is I wont be too sad to take it off on Sunday!

Black & Nude Nails!

Heeeeyyyyyy!
So tonight I did a mani that I tried to re-create from Pinterest. I don't think mine came out too bad, but it's definitely not as good as the original. I saw it on Pinterest and loved it and realized that I actually had the stamp plate for it! Woooo! So I copied this mani from Cosmetic Cupcake...
I think my main problem is my black doesn't stamp well...I used OPI: Black Onyx. I need some Konad. Also I stamped it off center, so I just went with it and added another to the bottom of my nail. Plus I just suck at stamping...

I used:
  • OPI: Black Onyx
  • OPI: Don't Pretzel My Buttons
  • Bundle Monster Plate: BM-214
  • Born Pretty Store: Black Circle Studs
